v0.22


this update is a bit delayed, life stuff, bit of burn out and measuring scope for the game. here it is tho, 0.22 mostly fleshes out some lacking areas of the game as well as paving the way for the final features and bringing the game closer to a completed state. right now the deadline i'm aiming for is march 1 - 7. I think I should be able to reach it with some zen gamer focus.

New features:

  • added some new trinkets:
    • bubble wand that allows you to hover in the air for a short period of time
    • feather that lets you double jump. stack feathers to gain more jumps
    • fire book that will give melee attacks a chance to burn
    • poison book that will give melee attacks a chance to poison
    • screwdriver that gives +10% melee attack speed
    • sweatpants that allow to player to dash
    • "invisible parachute" that gives immunity to fall damage
    • hardhat, +25% mining speed
    • confusion brain, enemies that hit you have a chance of becoming confused
    • shock absorber, prevents knockback entirely (only drops from mimics)
    • how to guide, grants immunity to confusion
    • pocket spigot, grants immunity to burning
    • antidote, grants immunity to poison
    • handwarmer, grants immunity to being frozen
    • repair kit, grants immunity to fragile
  • added a new crafting table "research station" that allows you to combine and make new trinkets
  • added new combination trinkets:
    • snake eyes, 2 dice together gives 8% critical strike chance
    • dice set, 4 dice that gives 16% critical strike chance
    • golden feather, upgraded feather that gives you 2 jumps instead of 1
    • sick kicks, comfty socks + spring shoes
    • super kicks, sick kicks + flippers + invisible parachute
    • defensive shield, golden ring + boxing glove
    • jackhamer, 2 hardhats combined for +50% mining speed
    • good luck charm, all immunity trinkets put together
  • the boss now drops "sticky wax"
  • added a new ore "fiber" to the ice biome that requires iron to mine
  • sticky wax and fiber can be combined to make a new fiber tool tier
  • added a new fossil ore found in the desert, that must be mined with the fiber pickaxe
  • new tool teir based made from fossil ore
  • new fiber armor set (fossil armor coming soon)
  • added a new bow made from fiber
  • added a new moss enemy that confuses you
  • added some new enemies to the snow biome:
    • the humble snowman
    • the wicked penguin who can dig through blocks
    • the blissful snowflake that freezes you
  • added iceicles to underground snow biome
  • added snow bricks and walls
  • added a pine tree to SPRUCE up the snow biome
  • added small pockets of marble to caves
  • added marble bricks and marble pillars
  • added a cool campfire block
  • added randomly spawning igloos
  • adding a few random underground structures for sauce
  • added a mossy stone u can find underground
  • added a shelf block
  • added a book block you can place
  • added a nice little table
  • added a pot you can add most plants to
  • added a chain block
  • added a lantern block
  • added a grandfather clock, that will tell you the time when you right click on it
  • added windchimes that will occasionally play a sound
  • added an option to toggle autosaving
  • new "confused" status effect that flips horizontal movement
  • new "frozen" status effect that locks the players movement (only works on player right now)
  • added a credits screen to the main menu
  • added a throwing knife weapon that you can find
  • added 3 new spear weapons, one of them you can find
  • praffin boss now drops a permanent health upgrade, upgrading your max health to 150

Technical Changes:

  • the world now pregenerates structures rather than generating them when you come across them
  • trees will drop slightly less saplings in general
  • trees now can't spawn next to each other on planet generation
  • chests now spawn frequently in ice biomes
  • changed copper ore texture to hopefully make it more visible
  • ores will now sparkle if they are at least slightly visible in light
  • vanity houses now have 3 gifts rather than 2
  • made iron slightly more common
  • since little houses are less common now, they will always spawn a chest
  • updated the old vanity houses to include new decor items
  • updated chest, crate, and mimic loot to include more of the new items
  • added hints of next mineable ore to all pickaxes
  • glowing orb plants now have a 10% to drop their orb if not fully grown (to make automation possible)
  • added a funny effect to opening gift type items
  • made some tools and armor a little more expensive to craft
  • idle surface birds will now leave when it becomes morning
  • rebalanced trinket drops
  • boss will now spawn praffins after 95% health rather than 75%
  • boss now gets ANGRY when its doing its infinite dash
  • spring shoes now no longer give fall damage immunity
  • added a sound to throwing objects (like the bomb)

Bug fixes:

  • breaking a placed sapling will no longer roll the odds to see if it should be dropped or not
  • trees grown on top of each other are now a little less buggy (but still buggy :p)
  • fixed subtle lights causing shadows during the day
  • fixed bug where opening a chest while having another chest open would sometimes save incorrectly and delete items
  • fixed oversight where firefly jar wasn't marked as transparent
  • mimics could sometimes delete themselves without properly effecting the enemy count, leading to less enemies than there should have been
