v0.18

This update adds the first boss to the game, there isn't much reason to fight him yet but I hope u have fun with a real goal now. This update is just about the last bit of "vertical slice" needed to create 1 single planet. A lot of the game's mechanics still aren't fully fleshed out, but they at least exist and can be built upon. v0.19 will probably flesh out mechanics like farming, fishing and combat. v0.20 will likely be the first update with multiple planets set up, the ship will be obtainable and I'll finally introduce actual game saving. All coming soon......

New Features:

  • Added the first boss!!
    • Craft a "wax lollipop" and locate the pedestal to summon him
    • He will eventually drop the parts necessary to craft your ship, but for now he only drops a propeller cap
  • Added little houses on the forest surface, they can have chests in them too
  • Added structure blocks to world gen capable of generating simple structures
  • Added different little houses to caves, with some goodies inside......
  • Added ladder paths, long stretches of ladder/hallway that can be traversed
  • Changed how chest loot spawning works, each chest now guarantees 1 rare trinket item and 1 rare fun item (like paintings)
  • Added more trinkets:
    • Dice: Increased critical strike chance
    • Boxing Glove: Increases knockback
    • BandAid: Increases item healing multiplier
    • Flipper: Increased underwater movement speed
  • Added a couple rare "cursed" trinkets that can give you buffs with a trade off
  • Added beds to set your spawn point!
  • Added big and small sunflowers! They'll only spawn on the underside of the main planet
  • Added special sunflower tools.....
  • Added new decoration blocks:
    • Paper blocks and walls
    • Letter blocks
  • Added crates that can be fished up, open em for a chance for all kinds of goodies
  • Added 2 more fish, the bone fish and the heart fish, eating them gives you status effects!
  • Added "tough" status effect that gives you 5 defense
  • Added the vanity loot present, opening one will give you 1 vanity item
  • Added a handful of new vanity items

Technical Changes:

  • Spawning in water will now shove you eastward, meaning u should now spawn on the shore instead
  • Trapdoors will now visually attach to ladders below them, looks nicer.
  • Trapdoor sprite in inventory changed.
  • Lights on ships now illuminate the world.
  • Changed all item hover text to lowercase
  • Added "mining power" to hover text on pickaxes
  • Dirt walls will spawn a little lower near lakes now
  • Added the ability for wall blocks to be "un-dyed" meaning they'll be normal colored instead of blueish
  • Items can now have additional descriptions
  • Made item hover info box a little cleaner and more aligned and stuff
  • Birds can no longer enter water
  • Changed how drop shadow rendering works, slight improvements to gpu performance
  • Also added command "shadow" to toggle drop shadow on and off, turning off gives performance boost
  • Added command "fps" to toggle fps display
  • Added a shader compiler screen for a smoother experience at beginning of game
  • Core is no longer that shitty place holder texture it has been since day 1 of the project
  • Bombs will no longer explode unsearched loot chests

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed bug where smacking a walking enemy (cobble or praffin) across the rotation boundary would cause it to not rotate correctly to the planet
  • Fixed bug where flower enemies spawning on non top sides of planets wouldn't flip until provoked
  • Fixed bug where glass background tiles would look fucked on non-top sides of the planet
  • Fixed bug where ship multitile data was messed up and would always pretend it was 0 when breaking a block
  • Fixed bug where right clicking on an armor slot with the incorrect item would place 1 item that would get stuck forever
  • Fixed bug where ladders would propagate light more than they should've
